David Bould joined the Catapult as R&D Partnership Manager in October 2017.  He is responsible for establishing new research and development partnerships, managing existing partnerships, forming project consortia and developing bids for competitive R&D funding.

David began his career offshore as a Chief Geophysicist in the seismic survey sector.  After seven years at sea, he retrained in engineering for sustainable energy systems.  He went on to specialise in economics, policy and innovation in the ocean (wave and tidal) energy sector, with positions at the Carbon Trust and the University of Edinburgh. He has provided research and management services to several large, European R&D projects (e.g. ETIP Ocean), and was involved in the inception and initial operation of the Wave Energy Scotland programme. Additional specialisms include energy scenario studies, technology roadmaps and commercialisation strategies.
