ORE Catapult’s Chris Hill Running for Scottish Renewables Board

Published 19 January 2017

ORE Catapult is supporting Chris Hill’s bid for election to the Board of Scottish Renewables.

Chris is our Innovation Engineering & Programmes Director and a renewables industry veteran, with over 20 years of experience working across wind and marine energy. As a former director of RenewableUK, where he chaired the Finance Committee and Offshore Wind Strategy Group, we believe the board would truly benefit from Chris’ extensive expertise and the innovative approach that characterises everything we do at ORE Catapult.

Voting closes at noon on Friday 27th January, so please: vote now, and vote Hill.

Chris Hill’s supporting statement is as follows:

I have worked in the renewables sector for over 20 years, gaining extensive experience of delivery of major programmes in both wind and marine energy.

I am currently a member of the Executive Management Team at the Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult based in Glasgow, with responsibility for delivering a £30M portfolio of technology innovation projects across the offshore renewables sector (wind, wave, tide and energy storage), working with industry, government and academia.

I have worked for Airtiricty developing on and offshore wind projects, and with Mainstream Renewable Power, where I was responsible for setting up and managing the Offshore Centre of Excellence from start up to developing over 5GW of offshore wind. Key highlights included founding Smart Wind Limited, a joint venture between Siemens and Mainstream, partnering with DONG Energy to develop the Round 3 Hornsea Zone and securing the rights to develop the Neart na Gaoithe offshore wind project.

From 2010-2016 I was a Director of RenewableUK, where I chaired the Finance Committee and Offshore Wind Strategy Group, and an active participant in a number of strategy groups from 2003. I was a member of the Offshore Wind Cost Reduction Task force, currently Chair the Offshore Wind Programme Board Executive Committee and sit on the Offshore Wind Industry Council.

A surveyor by profession, I am a Fellow of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors. ORE Catapult is an active member of Scottish Renewables, collaborating in a number of activities including partnering to deliver the annual Offshore Wind conference.”
