OWIC welcomes Aurora Energy Research analysis on the future of UK offshore wind

Published 18 January 2018

In response to the publication of Aurora Energy Research’s report The New Economics of Offshore Wind, Benj Sykes, Co-Chair of the Offshore Wind Industry Council (OWIC), said:

“The Offshore Wind Industry Council welcomes the publication of Aurora’s authoritative analysis of the future of offshore wind in the UK.  Their report again illustrates that the unprecedented reduction in costs that the industry has achieved offers a huge opportunity for reducing the country’s carbon emissions, whilst helping to reduce bills for consumers and create opportunities for UK businesses of all sizes.

“The industry looks forward to continuing to work with Government to maximise the advantages of our world-leading position and agreeing a transformational Sector Deal, which will unlock at least 30GW of capacity by the end of the next decade, providing affordable clean electricity to homes and businesses across the UK, energising the innovative UK businesses serving our industry at home and abroad, and creating skilled UK jobs in the places where they are most needed.”
