ORE Catapult’s Research & Innovation Director Steve Wyatt signs a Collaboration Agreement with delegates from TUS-Wind at a ceremony in China in August 2018.

At ORE Catapult, we are leading the way for the UK to establish strong global trade in offshore wind, where we have key experience and technical strengths and are a world-leading player globally.

Our team reviews international supply chain opportunities; reviewing technical barriers to product reliability and performance, developing applied research project concepts with UK SMEs and high tech companies with international counterparts (such as major OEMs) and engaging with businesses and investors to accelerate technology development.

The opportunity

The UK market supplies a significant number of international design and consultancy services, however there is a huge market opportunity for companies wishing to demonstrate novel technologies and innovative products across the international OSW supply chain. Growing markets across the globe present a major opportunity for high tech companies in the UK offshore wind supply chain to build collaborative research partnerships and drive UK economic growth.

At ORE Catapult, we are currently developing an International ORE Research Platform for offshore wind, offering support to address the technical and engineering hurdles faced by the Chinese offshore wind market.

Developing these international partnerships will support accelerating technology development and demonstration of the UK’s leading innovation capacity to reduce costs for offshore wind globally, reducing the time to commercialisation and supporting new product development.
