Offshore Wind Innovation Competition

In partnership with ScottishPower Renewables and Green Angel Syndicate, the Catapult's Offshore Wind Innovation Competition offers innovators the opportunity to pitch their solutions to SPR and investors. Entries close at 5pm on 5th July 2018.

SPR Challenge 1: Wind Measurement

A low-cost method of wind measurement on individual on and offshore wind turbines, enabling accurate correlation between wind speed and the power output of the turbine.

SPR Challenge 2: Subsea Cable Fault Detection

Development of a fault detection system for subsea cables enabling the diagnosis of fault type and fault location throughout the cable’s operational life.

SPR Challenge 3: Subsea Survey

Develop a cost-effective subsea survey method for inspecting the cables, substructures and surrounding seabed on an offshore wind farm which, ideally, will reduce vessel requirements.

SPR Challenge 4: Jacket Foundation – Pin Pile Connection

Develop a method of providing a connection between the jacket foundation and the pin piles, which ideally improves upon current grout connection methods used in offshore wind turbine installation.
