ORE Catapult awarded internationally recognised standards

Published 30 April 2015

The Offshore Renewable Energy (ORE) Catapult is celebrating after achieving internationally recognised standards in quality, environmental and occupational health and safety management.

The technology innovation and research centre, established in 2013, was awarded the following accreditations in March 2015 following assessment by DNV-GL:

  • ISO 9001:2008 – Requirement for a Quality Management System
  • ISO 14001:2004 – Requirement for an Environmental Management System
  • OHSAS 18001 – Requirement for an Occupational Health & Safety Management System

ISO9001 and ISO 14001 is a family of standards relating to quality management and environmental management systems, designed to help organisations ensure that they meet the needs of customers, shareholders, and employees. The OHSAS 18001 accreditation demonstrates ORE Catapult’s commitment to promoting a safe and healthy working environment for all its employees, customers and stakeholders.

The certification of compliance with ISO9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 recognises that the policies, practices, and procedures of ORE Catapult ensures best practice in the solutions and services it provides to all its stakeholders, both internally and externally.

Chris Hill, Innovation Engineering and Programmes Director for ORE Catapult, said:

“Achieving all three certifications is testament to the hard work and dedication of our team. The National Renewable Energy Centre in Blyth already held these accreditations, but following its merger with ORE Catapult in March 2014, work began in earnest to ensure that the standards were applied across the whole business.

“To be celebrating our accreditation after less than a year shows the high level of commitment from all. As any company that has been through the process knows, achieving these standards is very demanding and attaining this certification speaks volumes of our commitment to continually improving our internal processes and procedures.”
