RenewableUK Global Offshore Wind 2019

Once again, the Catapult is a strategic event partner at RenewableUK’s Global Offshore Wind 2019, the world’s largest dedicated offshore wind energy conference and exhibition.

On our pavilion at Stand 130, we’re hosting ten of the UK’s most promising innovators and our foremost thought leaders and event champions will be on hand to discuss topics including the modern workforce, global markets, the energy transition, and future technology.

Here’s a full rundown of our speaking slots:

Day 1

The conference kicks off with the Opening Session at 9.15am in the Platinum Suite, and our Testing & Validation Director Tony Quinn is on the panel.

At 11am, find out more about the value of benchmarking as our Data & Digitalisation team leader Conaill Soraghan discusses Trends and Lessons Learned from the World’s First Offshore Wind Data Sharing Platform in the Innovation Theatre.

It’s then over to our Head of Strategic Research Paul McKeever, who’s discussing Managing Data to Develop Digital Twins and Provide Improved Turbine and Farm Control During Operation in the Innovation Theatre immediately afterwards.

At 12.15pm, the Catapult hosts an engagement event for the Offshore Wind Growth Partnership in South Gallery 18 & 19. Dr Steve Wyatt and Andrew Macdonald provide an introduction to the Sector Deal’s new business transformation programme.

At 1.15pm, Audrey Bowie discusses autonomous surface vessels, the WASP project, and its Sector Roadmap for their integration into O&M in the Logistics Centre.

And at 2pm, Tony Quinn joins GE Renewable Energy‘s Rainer Broering for In Conversation With… GE Renewable Energy and ORE Catapult in the Innovation Theatre. They’ll be talking 10MW+ turbines, and the challenges around testing and validating the next generation of offshore wind powertrains and components.

Day 2

Wednesday begins with Andrew Tipping‘s introduction to the Launch Academy, the Catapult’s latest programme to launch new offshore wind technologies into the market, at 11.30am in the Global Markets Theatre.

At 12pm James Battensby, one of the key architects of the Tus-ORE Catapult Research Centre in Yantai City, discusses UK-China Offshore Wind Opportunities and Challenges in the Global Markets Theatre.

And at 3.15pm, Financial Analyst Miriam Noonan looks at the key cost drivers of LCoE in a range of global markets, before extrapolating with some internal analysis looking forward to the Sector Deal’s 2030 vision, in Learning From Markets Around the World in the Platinum Suite.
