This event also includes a ‘drop in’ session – speak directly to experts in legal, funding and technical areas. You can book this during registration.

Background

The global energy sector is undergoing a dramatic transformation, led by trends in digitalisation and centralisation. This is leading to a fundamental transition in energy systems due to the emergence of new technologies, business models, energy economics and changing social preferences. With the rapid expansion of renewables and battery storage and a more decentralised model of energy generation, the UK is experiencing important changes to its energy systems. This system transformation is based on the principles of creating a system which is smarter, flexible and more integrated.

Digitalisation and technology are playing a key role in radically revolutionising the way the UK generates, distributes and consumes power as it is being reshaped by rapid growth in distributed renewable energy, decentralised gas and oil production, innovation in efficiency and progress in software and analytics. Digitalising the energy sector empowers energy consumers and contributes to a new design for the energy markets.

Who should attend?

The Masterclass series welcomes small and medium sized businesses, academia and stakeholders in energy systems. This particular masterclass is ideal for companies and academic institutions interested in data analytics, energy storage, energy suppliers, renewable technologies and robotics.
