INTOG : An Energy Transition Opportunity for Scotland

Website visit Address Virtual Event Start February 17, 2022 - 10:00 am End February 17, 2022 -11:30 am

The Innovation and Targeted Oil and Gas (INTOG) leasing round is a process by which developers will apply for the rights to build offshore wind farms specifically to provide low carbon electricity to power oil and gas installations. It will offer a collaborative opportunity in Scottish waters to ramp up for ScotWind, decarbonise oil and gas operations and enable innovative projects, deploying green hydrogen for example. A draft of the leasing process is in the final review stages before being released by Crown Estate Scotland (CES).

If the CES process supports project delivery by the mid 2020s, these medium-scale projects will act as a ‘ramp up’ to ScotWind projects from the late 2020s. They will also support the delivery of decarbonisation targets within the North Sea Transition Deal (NSTD) and the 40GW by 2030 target in the Offshore Wind Sector Deal.

INTOG projects will allow project developers and the supply chain to advance technology development and gain experience in serial manufacture, assembly and installation, in advance of Scotwind. This learning and experience would help de-risk the delivery of larger projects, unlock investment in infrastructure and supply chain and create export opportunities.

This invite only online workshop will bring together Investors, Asset Owners/Operators, Oil and Gas Companies and Wind Farm Developers interested in collaborating to address some of the key challenges faced in delivering INTOG projects by the mid-2020s. The event is the first step, facilitated by the Net Zero Technology Centre (NZTC) and ORE Catapult Energy Transition Alliance, to bring together a cohort of interested companies, who can commit funding and resource time to collaboratively address common challenges and support the delivery of early INTOG projects.
