The Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult are teaming up with the European Space Agency Regional Ambassador Programme, and the Satellite Applications Catapult to explore the opportunities that satellites could offer offshore renewables, especially in context of the Celtic and Irish Sea Offshore Wind opportunities.

Join us in Cardiff on 20th June, Aberystwyth on 21st June and Bangor on 22nd June

The team will host 3 workshops (Cardiff, Aberystwyth and Bangor) during the week commencing 19th June, to bring together participants from across ORE and space sectors as well as from a mix of industry, academia, and Research and Technology Organisations (RTO) to assess the market urgency and technical viability of solutions. The session will look at all opportunities that satellites offer offshore renewables but will use three key challenge questions to facilitate conversations:

• Can satellite data help expedite the lengthy approval timescales in the consenting process for new developments?

• What changes are needed to enable unmanned solutions for the provision of in-situ data that can be used across bankability, operation and maintenance, and decommissioning?

• In a domain as broad and as dynamic as the Celtic Sea could high-altitude platform station (HAPS) systems for both telecom and EO services be an enabling technology for FLOW?

In addition to the facilitated exploration session attendees will hear:

• Details on the context and scale of the opportunity in the Celtic Sea

• Examples of where satellites have provided solutions

• An introduction to Welsh Government Innovation Funding

• Details on ESA’s Space for Green Energy Transition initiate and related key funding opportunities
