How Wind Technologies Can Help Deliver Climate Change Targets

Website visit Address Virtual Event Start July 5, 2021 - 1:00 pm End June 5, 2021 -2:36 pm

The Scottish Government is committed to growing an inclusive, net-zero economy and society to create a more cohesive and resilient economy that improves the opportunities, life chances, and wellbeing of every citizen – a Just Transition to Net-zero. Research and Innovation (R&I) are key tools in any strategy to achieve a Just Transition and are critical to addressing climate change and supporting a blue-green recovery, the cornerstone to COP26.

ETP in conjunction with Research & Innovation Scotland (Scottish Research Pools and Innovation Centres) present this series of webinars demonstrating how excellence in R&I and its ability to foster international collaboration can help the global energy community deliver carbon emission reduction targets, especially around Nationally Determined Contributions.

This webinar, held in conjunction with ETP and the Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult will explore the role that offshore wind and hydrogen has to play in delivery our net-zero ambitions. We will discuss what net-zero means, and the importance of offshore wind in the future energy system. The challenges around deploying the amount of offshore wind required will be presented, and then some of the solutions – with a particular focus on hydrogen. Finally, two case studies will be used to illustrate how offshore wind, and green hydrogen interact.
