The absence of a standard framework for classifying and distinguishing losses and uncertainties in wave and tidal energy yield assessment acts as a barrier to understanding between stakeholders and impedes opportunities for collaboration across the industries. To address this, the Catapult has issued guidance on how the range of losses, efficiencies and availabilities should be defined to enable a complete assessment to be performed.
