As Head of Projects at the Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult, I am firmly focused on innovation as the key to reaching Net Zero in Scotland and further afield. With a background as a chartered mechanical engineer, I look at our sector and see a wealth of opportunities for growth through innovation, improved ways of working and solving technical challenges – a theme that runs throughout my work.

I started my career in renewables 14 years ago and have been a passionate advocate ever since. Initially delivering major service projects for both onshore and offshore wind, then moving onto a broader range of renewables with my current portfolio covering wind, wave and tidal, as well as hydrogen systems. It continues to be an absolute pleasure to be involved in an industry where the people we work with have a true sense of purpose and an ability to make a real difference.

Through delivery of a range of supply chain acceleration programmes, including our flagship Launch Academy, I am uniquely positioned in my role to bring together all tiers of the supply chain from SMEs to OEMs and Developers, as well as delivery of cutting edge research projects and academic collaborations. As such, I have a broad view across the industry and of how the needs of such a wide range of stakeholders align.

I am passionate about Scotland benefiting from the opportunities for growth and employment that renewables can deliver with the growth and upskilling of our supply chain. This industry is full of potential for creating opportunities for young people too; my own career has taken its path strongly supported by inspiring leaders recognising potential and I am always looking for ways to pay it forward, particularly in the interest of promoting equality, inclusion, and diversity that renewables in Scotland can offer.

I am confident that my experience will provide an independent, unique and valuable contribution to the Scottish Renewables board if I am elected.
