Ben is responsible for ORE Catapult’s activities across the Smart Operations and Maintenance (O&M) portfolio. His primary mission is to make offshore wind O&M smarter, safer and greener – helping build UK content in the supply chain by leveraging Industry 4.0 practices from within and across sectors.
Building on the Catapult’s existing expertise and portfolio of O&M support, Ben’s area of responsibilities include data & digital projects, robotics & autonomy, advanced tooling, clean maritime, circular economy and decommissioning. Based in the Humber, Ben also supports the growth of the Operations and Maintenance Centre of Excellence (OMCE) in Grimsby.
Joining the Catapult team in 2019, Ben came from leading the Aura low carbon energy programme at the University of Hull. Before moving into renewables, Ben worked in military aviation in both Australia and the UK where he was involved in operations, training, capability development, programme management and technology development.
