Claire joined the Catapult in October 2017.  She is the Innovation Manager for the Business Development team in the Operation & Performance directorate. Her role involves identifying technologies which have the potential to reduce the costs of operating offshore wind farms and contribute to economic growth. Claire engages with the UK supply chain through programmes such as the Offshore Wind Innovation Hub and the Offshore Wind Innovation Exchange, seeking companies who can address the challenges of industry through technology innovation.

Before joining the Catapult, Claire undertook a four-year Engineering Doctorate with the Industrial Doctoral Centre for Offshore Renewable Energy (IDCORE). As part of this programme, Claire worked on an industrial research project at EDF Energy, and is now completing her thesis on the effects of corrosion and biofouling on the lifetime of offshore wind monopile foundations. Claire also has a BSc in Marine and Environmental Biology from the University of St Andrews, and a MSc in Conservation and Biodiversity from the University of Exeter.

Claire has a broad range of skills in data analysis, project design and management, and a deep understanding of marine environmental topics related to offshore wind development. Claire has presented her research findings at international conferences, and is heavily involved in STEM campaigns.
