George joined ORE Catapult as a Project Engineer in July 2020, working predominantly in the full-scale drivetrain testing facilities based at our National Renewable Energy Centre in Blyth, Northumberland.
George is a Chartered Mechanical Engineer and has worked in the renewable energy industry since graduating from Plymouth University with a master’s degree in mechanical engineering. George joined us from Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy where he held a number of technical positions from wind power sales and installation through to O&M major projects before 5 years as a mechanical engineer with responsibility for technical solutions on SGRE’s onshore and offshore wind turbine fleet across the North-Europe and Middle-East region. In this time George gained a broad understanding of turbine lifecycle, root cause analysis and common operational failure modes. He brings with him valuable insight and experience of typical OEM and operator challenges in the wind industry.
