Edge Solutions design and supply leading-edge protection systems for wind turbine blades, engineered to reduce erosion, extend blade lifespan, and improve turbine performance in harsh operating environments.
Their flagship product, Armour Edge, provides advanced protection against rain, sand, dust, ice, and other abrasive elements that cause leading-edge wear and tear, helping to reduce maintenance requirements and maximise the energy output of a wind turbine.
Working with ORE Catapult
Edge Solutions started working with ORE Catapult during the early stages of material selection and rain erosion testing at our world leading testing facilities in Blyth. Since then, the relationship has grown to include technical support and culminated recently with the installation of Armour Edge on the ORE Catapult Levenmouth Demonstration Turbine – with currently the highest number of shields installed on a single blade to date.

Version 3.0 of the Armour Edge Leading Edge Protection system, delivering continued improvements in performance and reliability has been released. The Blade Library has been extended with almost 50 new blade designs. The most prevalent blade types have now been scanned and tooling completed, with new designs continually being added in response to customer demand.

The headcount increased from three employees to 10 employees in the past two years, with expanded capabilities across finance, operations, logistics and sales.

Armour Edge continues to focus on becoming the Leading Edge Protection system of choice for Asset Owners, Independent Service Providers, and Original Equipment Manufacturers. Armour Edge is already installed on hundreds of wind turbines and Edge Solutions has expanded its customer base and geographical footprint to include the USA, Europe, Asia and Australia.
