As a world-leading organisation with engineering, innovation and technology at its heart, ORE Catapult is passionate about STEM and community engagement within its local communities to deliver inspiring, meaningful and impactful social benefit.
With locations throughout the UK, our STEM and community engagement programmes are aligned to engage with and meet the respective needs of local education and community partners.
To date, we have provided STEM engagement for thousands of young learners, joined national STEM programmes and embedded our organisation as a key member of community groups. We provide STEM and community engagement in a number of different ways from our locations, including Glasgow, Levenmouth, Blyth, Grimsby and Pembrokeshire.
Some of our recent work in these areas include:
With our HQ based in Glasgow, ORE Catapult has been involved in broad range of STEM careers events and activities with regional stakeholders for many years, some examples include:
As owners of the Levenmouth Demonstration Turbine that operates close to the Levenmouth community, ORE Catapult is in partnership with Levenmouth Academy to directly support its STEM provision for young learners at the school:
ORE Catapult’s presence in Blyth is significant. Home to the National Renewable Energy Centre – made up of the largest test and validation facilities in the world – Catapult is very visible to its community and has extensive outreach programmes as a result:
Our Welsh team responsible for the Marine Energy Engineering Centre of Excellence (MEECE) and a project partner of the Milford Haven: Energy Kingdom (MH:EK) project are actively engaging young learners in offshore renewable energy and hydrogen opportunities:
ORE Catapult’s Operations and Maintenance Centre of Excellence (OMCE) is located in the Port of Grimsby, with teams engaging with local education partners to deliver STEM programmes and raise awareness of offshore renewable energy opportunities, including sessions delivered with the Engineering UTC North Lincolnshire.
