Using a written scheme of examination (WSoE) to amend the frequency of scheduled activity, such as statutory inspections, at offshore wind farms has been established as good practice throughout the industry. There is, however, a general perception that the process is not well understood. This case study sets out the purpose and scope of a WSoE and outlines how Siemens Gamesa (at the time Siemens Wind Power) successfully extended the intervals of wind turbine lift statutory inspections using this mechanism.
